Lady Ghislaine

So the fibbers have at long last caught up with the Lady Ghislaine. And there she was just like Osama Bin Laden was in Abbotobad Pakistan hiding in full view all along in a mansion in New Hampshire. Despite the gravity of the offences she is alleged to have committed many doubted that given her high profile friends (and make no mistake they are very high profile indeed) she would ever see the inside of a courtroom. But thanks to the diligent work of the New York southern district attorneys office she is now under arrest. Bear in mind that only last week trump sacked the attorney in charge here after also sacking his predecessor because he refused to do him a favour for his mate Erdogan. This is another scandal to which I will return soon but it’s plain that the present attorney who is temporary is moving now before Trump puts in a crony to kill the investigation. As you know Maxwell is charged with ‘procuring minors for sexual exploitation ‘by the recently departed Epstein and there will be more than a few among the great and the good of the American elite not to mention British royalty sweating this one out. For if anyone knows where the bodies are buried it’s Maxwell. The big question going forward is whether she pleads the fifth or sings. No doubt the prosecutors will be offering a plea bargain based on what she’s willing to testify. Either way, it’s all a massive comedown for the former media tycoon Robert Maxwells daughter. Y’all remember ‘the man who saved the Mirror’ headline the morning after he committed suicide by jumping into the Med. from the deck of ‘The Lady Ghislaine’ which his yacht was named in honour of the daughter. But the Mirror headline was premature as it was later revealed that its ‘saviour’ had actually embezzled hundreds of millions from the staff pension fund. Another curious aspect into the search for Ghizzy was the silence of the usually so self righteous Murdoch media pack. Could their reticence be related in any way to the ‘royal connection’ you wonder. Another ‘lord lucan’ style disappearance was the accepted wisdom. Contrast this with the vicious feeding frenzy around Megan Markle when she decided she’d had enough. I’m reminded of the words of the poet Humbolt Wolfe who wrote in the 1920’s

 ‘You cannot hope to bribe or twist thank God! the British journalist. But seeing what the man will do unbribed, there’s no occasion to.

 So for the moment the ‘Lolita Express’ as it was known which was Epstein’s private plane used to transport the great and good around the world to their many vital appointments is back in its hangar. Whether it’s secrets remain parked up also will be revealed soon enough.
