No reputation to protect

As the British left south arabia( Yemen) about sixty years ago, Denis Healy said to his boss, ‘we will be remembered here for two things only, soccer football and the expression fuck off’. Sadly for the Yemenis the Brits hadn’t forgotten them as they provided the Saudis with the military hardware used to rain death and destruction down on the undefended people of Yemen for the last ten years. In a bizarre irony of history, it’s the Houthi rebels who have purged both the Saudi backed Isis and Al quaeda from Yemen.

Meanwhile america continues to indulge the Saudis with weapons and support notwithstanding their role in terrorism and 9/11. Western media now try to tell us that the bombing last night of Houthi women and children is to stop attacks on shipping in the gulf. But the houthis have said that all that’s needed for that is for america to call a ceasefire in Gaza and to end the genocide.

Yesterday in The Hague South Africa opened its case accusing Israel of genocide. As we know Israel couldn’t give a shit about the ICC as it has no reputation to protect. The same is not true however for its carnival barkers in America and England. The first casualty is already manifest, Ukraine, and the implications for US foreign policy in places like the South China Sea are grave indeed. Nor will the world tolerate the veto powers of Britain and France at the un which between them don’t reach a population of 100 million. One result of these bad choices by america is that it can no longer project soft power. Formerly open minded countries no longer inhale the smoke the White House is blowing and so military power is all they have left. In last nights adventure the usual suspects prostituded themselves as shamelessly as ever- Britain,Australia and newbies Netherlands under the fascist leadership of their newly minted pm who got elected recently by the Dutch farmers who had objected to being told to stop pouring cows hit into the rivers.
